I’m janello

aka Jason Anello but everyone calls me J.

I grew up at a big Italian table where Sunday dinner wasn’t just about the food — it was where stories were told, opinions debated, and memories made. That table taught me early on that dinnertime is more than eating, it’s an experience that connects people.

Years later, I recreated that feeling through Forking Tasty, a supper club I started in Brooklyn that gathered strangers around one long table to share homemade meals, stories, and laughter — just like my childhood Sundays. What began as an experiment in connection became a living, breathing experience — proof that a shared table can turn strangers into family.

That same spirit drives my work today and fuels the Red Sauce Map — my ongoing mission to document and celebrate Italian-American culture through the restaurants, delis, and red sauce joints that keep our stories alive. It’s a tribute to the people and places that built this community and the flavors that bind us together.

Professionally, I’ve spent my career as an experience strategist, designing everything from restaurants to apps to brands that evoke emotion and create lasting memories. The Red Sauce Map and Forking Tasty are where that professional craft and personal passion collide — both devoted to designing experiences that connect people through food, story, and shared heritage.
